Allergies

So, we've discovered that Diego is allergic to milk. I am soooo sad about this. It sucks. He can't drink milk, eat cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, nothing. He's also allergic to eggs. I don't know if it's egg whites, or egg yolks, or both. We found out when we gave him some milk and he threw up several times immediately after drinking it. He throws up cheese, too. And with eggs he breaks out all over his face. It's so sad! I hope he grows out of it. It's possible! When I was little, I was allergic to canned fish like tuna and sardines. And I grew out of it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. What kid can't eat macaroni and cheese???

Bummer

We were supposed to be getting back from New York today. But there was a change in plans.

On December 29th, I was the maid of honor in Julie Hickman's wedding. That morning, Diego started breathing really weird. He seemed like he couldn't catch his breath. My instincts told me to take him to the doctor, even though I totally didn't have time for that. I really needed to get ready for Julie's wedding. The doc said he was wheezing and had bronchiolitis and possibly pneumonia. Grrrreat. Marcelo had to take him to the hospital to get a chest x-ray. I felt like the world's worst mother, because I couldn't go. I had to go to Julie's wedding! It was sooo hard to see Diego like that and not be there by his side. Marcelo said it was a good thing I didn't go to the chest x-ray because it was pure torture. They had to put Diego in a little machine with his hands straight ut by his head, and only his face was visible through a little hole. Marcelo said Diego just screamed the whole time. The poor kid was terrified.

The other thing the doc said was that flying was not a good idea. Well, on the 30th, we were supposed to fly to New York, so we could spend New Year's and my grandpa's birthday there with my family. Sadly, we had to cancel the trip. I was really bummed out about that, but obviously, we were going to do whatever was best for Diego and his health.

So here we are, still in Florida. We spend New Year's with Marcelo's family, which was nice. At midnight we were at home, all alone, and Diego was asleep. It was the first time I've ever had such a quiet little New Year's.

Diego is still on medication, and we have to use the nebulizer on him. It's not fun, but it seems to be making him better.

Oh, having children is tough work.

Happy Holidays!

Diego's first Christmas is over! Time is just going by way too fast. We spent Christmas with my in-laws. It was really nice to have Diego be with all his cousins. We took pictures of all the grandkids with my in-laws. The girls all wore matching outfits, and Michelle made Diego a little matching vest. It was soooo cute!!! She was so sweet to do that.

Diego totally didn't care about opening presents. But it was fun for me and Marcelo!

Merry Christmas!

It's almost Christmas!! We already celebrated with my family because they went to New York. We're going to meet up with them for New Year's to celebrate my grandpa's birthday there. I'm so excited for Marcelo to go to New York! It's so awesome there.

So, we had a Christmas dinner with my parent's and exchanged gifts. This was one of our presents to my parents:

I'm pregnant!!! I'm not very far along yet, so we're not really telling anyone. But I needed to tell my mom so I could talk to her about it. I'm pretty worried because I haven't felt any symptoms at all yet, but it's still early. It wasn't really planned, but it wasn't completely prevented either. Well, it was for the most part, but we could have been more diligent, I suppose. We were planning on trying maybe 3 or 4 months from now. But HF had different plans! I'm excited, but nervous, too. They'll be 18 months apart. That's going to be crazy.

Okay, time for Christmas pictures:

And here's the Christmas Card I made:

I should have put "And baby". :) How cute is Diego's vest?!

Halloween

Halloween is so much more fun when you have a baby to dress up! Diego is super hyper and jumpy, so I had to dress him as a monkey. Because that's what he is: our little monkey! Marcelo was Tarzan and I was Jane. Sofi was a cheeta. She was adorable! Here's some pics.

Diego had fun at the crazy halloween party my parents always have. He loooves music and seeing everyone dance. He gets that from my mom. He didn't last very long, though. We put him to sleep in the crib that my parents have in my old room and stayed for a little while. Things just change when you have kids, though. We have to leave all the parties early now. But I don't mind!

Cruisin'

We went on our first cruise! It was my dad's 50th birthday, so my parents, David, Sergio and his girlfriend Mina, Marcelo, Diego, me, and my grandparents went on a cruise to the Bahamas. It was a lot of fun. It would have been a lot MORE fun, if Diego would have slept through the night. He kept waking up because we were in the same room with him and he could see us. But it was still fun. The food was soooo delicious. And it was great getting to spend all that time with my grandparents since I don't get to see them often.

Diego learned to pull himself up while we were there!

My abuelitos:

I thought I'd be scared, but I wasn't. Being in the middle of the ocean was beautiful. Ugh, but I was pretty seasick for the first two days. So was David. Okay, Diego just woke up, so I have to cut this short. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and I'm glad we went!

My chubby boy

Diego is 6 months old! The time has flown by!! He has grown so much. He's soooo chubby, I love it. He's so much fun right now. He's laughing a ton, and is just such a happy baby. We started him on solids last month and so far he loves everything we give him. He just loves food. He makes our lives so happy. Very busy, but very happy. He still wakes up once a night, so I still take naps with him during the day. And that's why I never have time to update!! Here's my little man:
