I think I may have been invisible today.
I went to the doctor and stood at the registration desk for oh, 6 minutes or so. The lady looked straight at me (or through me?) and kept doing what she was doing. I stood there shifting my weight and giving her the evil eye, while she continued to look up in my direction every few minutes before going back to whatever it was that was soooo important.
Eventually I gave up and looked for someone else who could give me some assistance. A kind lady ended up helping me. This doctor's appointment of mine was a DEXA scan. For those of you who aren't in their 70s like me, a DEXA scan is a bone density scan that checks for osteoperosis. They were checking me because of my recent bone fractures. I was the youngest person in the entire building.
Anyway, after my appointment I ran into the grocery store. I grabbed the 2 items I needed, went to an empty check-out line, and was again completely ignored!!
This is when I started worrying that only certain people could actually see me.
The girl had her little light on and was clearly not helping anyone else. Still, she just stood there, looked over my shoulder, then turned her back as if to say, "Go away. I'm not helping you." I did as her back told me to, and went to another line and checked out.
So this is my message to the customer service world today: If someone is standing in front of you, patiently waiting for their turn, just say, "I'll be with you in a minute." Or SOMETHING. Acknowledge their existence. If you cannot be with them in a moment, let them know where to go to receive assistance.
Thank you.
I guess I should also acknowledge the fact that I am a mouse. I could have spoken up in both situations. But I didn't. I just stood there like a little mouse. It's like I have a fear that speaking up for myself will automatically make me sound rude. It's actually quite ridiculous. I really need to get over that.
While I try to work on that, I'll just passively-aggressively get out my frustrations here. Okay? Okay.
Oh and I won't know my results for another week or so. Fingers crossed that I just have bad luck and not something serious.

I really have nothing worthwhile to say. I'm just sad you had such a horrible time with those rude people and I felt that if I just read your post and didn't comment you would think nobody read it, that you were invisible once again. but alas, you're not. and I like reading other peoples vents because they hit so close to home for me most times. we're all human!
At least you're not invisible on your blog!
I feel invisible every time I ask my kids to do something. Someone please just acknowledge that I said something!
Sorry you had a bad day. If you could pass your customer service message to my family, I'd appreciate it!
